Position Summary, Requirements, and Qualifications
Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the Mathematics Assistance Center in Founders Library, Learning Commons. The MAC Coordinator should spend at least 32.5 hours per week in the MAC. The secondary purpose of this position is to organize, administer, and coordinate the running of the MAC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership
The MAC Coordinator is expected to spend at least 32.5 hours per week in the MAC. During these hours, the MAC Coordinator will:
Collaborate with course coordinators, instructors, and faculty to ensure students are receiving correct and relevant help, continuity for students related to specific course expectations and discussions during tutoring sessions, and tutoring is not at cross-purposes with instruction.
Provide individual and group tutoring to students across a broad range of math courses; explain, clarify, and review concepts taught in class.
Oversee the training process for graduate and undergraduate assistants tutoring students, including different pedagogy approaches and study strategies to enhance student learning and success.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate assistants and assist them if they encounter any problems while tutoring students.
Perform semester evaluations to track progress of professional development.
Assist in interviewing staff hires.
Assist with academic strategies to support students' academic success.
Provide day-to-day planning and leadership for the MAC.
Assessment, Data Analysis, and Reporting
The MAC Coordinator will:
Assist in the development, administration, and analysis of assessment/evaluation surveys and questionnaires on the effectiveness and usage of the MAC and adjust scheduling as justified.
Monitor, assess, and report on performance of students, identifying and implementing strategies to improve student progression.
Compile data at the end of the semester and report to the Chair, including data on utilization of services and corresponding student success outcomes.
Identify problems and solutions.
Participate in professional development activities to improve tutoring and leadership skills.
Oversee Daily Operations of the MAC
The MAC Coordinator will plan, design, deliver, modify, and coordinate math support for the MAC. The MAC Coordinator will:
Organize the delivery of tutoring services to streamline processes and improve student retention and completion in mathematics.
Establish the schedule for staffing of the MAC, monitor weekly usage, maximizing the number of hours between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. when students can receive assistance.
Keep the MAC website up-to-date.
Provide and coordinate on-campus and virtual office hours of instructors and graduate and undergraduate assistants who will be staffing the MAC.
Work with any undergraduate assistants who will be acting as tutors, coordinating their schedules to maximize course coverage during MAC hours.
Maintain records of student usage and staff labor.
Notify the Chair of staffing issues.
Communicate with the Husky Academic Support Center to coordinate staffing and report any relevant issues.
