Job Description

Job Summary:

Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training.  Participates in the planning of work relating to the processing of accounting documents.  Ensures that documents and data are accurate and correctly processed through various accounting systems according to established standards.  Updates systems and produces various accounting reports. 

Major Job Tasks:

  • Provide in-depth accounting support of all accounting functions or specialized in one depending on office size: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, customer work management, or job costing
  • Perform accounting functions including, but not limited to: entry, coding, editing, 3-way matching, verification to company policy and procedure
  • Understand customer contracts
  • Review revenue for accuracy and completeness
  • Verify internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy of accounting documents
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, generate standard reports, and complete subsidiary ledger reconciliation
  • Identify and assist in implementing process improvements/efficiencies
  • Review the work of others and provide training as needed
  • Assist in compiling information related to internal and external audit requests and inquires
  • Ensure that internal control procedures are followed
  • Obtain information necessary to resolve unusual problems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Analytical, detail orientated, personable, professional and self-starter
  • Ability to lead in a team environment as well as work individually
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and complete assignments with tight deadlines and minimal or no supervision
  • Strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures for accounts receivables, accounts payable and payroll
  • An understanding of general accepted accounting principles and internal controls
  • Ability to understand and adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Strong ability to maintain top standards of quality and accuracy
