Position Overview: The Federal/State Government Business Development Manager is responsible for driving and supporting sales activities within State and Federal Government sectors to achieve regional sales growth. Key objectives include developing new business, expanding sales to existing government customers, and retaining current clients. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, such as new markets, partnerships, and product or service offerings, to increase revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop and support State and Federal Government sales activities to contribute to regional sales growth.

+ Identify and exploit new business opportunities, including new markets, partnerships, and ways to reach existing markets.

+ Increase revenue by developing new business, selling more to existing customers, and retaining current clients.

+ Facilitate meetings between representatives and qualified targets.

+ Leverage strategic partnerships to enhance sales efforts.

+ Maintain professional memberships and partnerships with relevant industry trade organizations.

+ Attend events, network, participate in exhibitions and conferences, make cold calls, and respond to incoming leads.

+ Utilize strategic analysis, marketing, and sales skills to grow the company’s business through new partnerships and increased sales from existing accounts.

+ Manage time effectively and demonstrate strong sales skills, including confidence, planning, and strategy.

+ Exhibit proficiency in communication, initiative, teamwork, personal effectiveness, technical capacity, and project management.

+ Achieve revenue targets through effective sales strategies and account plan implementation.

+ Collaborate with market planners and leaders to coordinate strategy in respective areas.

+ Facilitate activities between clients, sales organization, market planning, customer operations, and executives to complete the strategic selling process.

+ Provide accurate sales forecasts, conduct Quarterly Business Reviews, and manage expenses efficiently.

+ Manage internal and external relationships to achieve business goals and secure appropriate support for customer service.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

+ 7+ years of successful individual sales experience in solutions-oriented sales environments.

+ 5+ years of experience selling into the Government Market.

+ Effective sales forecasting and solid negotiation skills.

+ Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to network effectively both internally and externally.

+ Proven ability to sell complex products to new customers and prospects, including IDEX Fire and Safety Solutions.

+ Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel, SalesForce, PowerBI, Workboard, and Workday.

+ Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
