Job Summary:

Manages all activities associated with biomedical &/or social-behavioral research studies considered very complex by the inclusion of several of the following: multiple investigators, teams, sites, sub-contracts, participants, longitudinal assessments/ interventions; &/or multi-million dollar budgets.  Ensures completion of contract requirements & client specifications.  Oversees day-to-day operations including identifying & securing needed resources; creating, implementing, monitoring, & updating project plans; facilitating meetings with appropriate parties; tracking tasks/deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones &/or goals are attained; monitoring & reporting progress as appropriate; & resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner.   May co-author scientific papers for presentation & publication & coordinates writing, submission & administration of grants.  Ensures that all study activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

The Department of Medical Social Sciences at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (NU/FSM) is seeking strong applicants for a new Research Project Manager to assist with the planning and conduct of a multi-site, NIH-funded randomized controlled trial that will evaluate whether it is possible to help breast cancer survivors manage pain using a web-based psychological pain intervention. The Research Project Manager will work with the principal investigator, Dr. Christine Rini, to help ensure successful completion of this project, coordinating with collaborators at Northwestern and a second study site. Responsibilities include administrative tasks, assisting with regulatory approvals, and managing and overseeing adherence to approved protocols. The role may also involve some participant recruitment and data collection. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a multi-site randomized controlled trial focused on behavioral science, including overseeing the work of others to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. It is also important to have at least some experience identifying, recruiting, retaining, and collecting data from participants in behavioral research. This person will also assist with data management and planning and implementing new processes and protocols. More generally, the position requires some experience leading a study team, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, detail orientation for thorough and accurate record keeping and reporting, and the ability to use good judgment in daily tasks.
