General Information & Responsibilities
The Groundskeeper II/Gardener provides maintenance services on campus roads and grounds at the Quad-Cities Campus and satellite sites. Provides snow and ice removal work during winter months, and provides other services as assigned.
This position will be scheduled for first shift work hours (6:30am – 3:00pm). Must be able to be on call for weather related duties. This is a full-time position. Starting pay for this job is $12.00- $16.00 per hour.Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
a. Secures general instructions for work assignments from Assistant Facilities Superintendent. b. Repairs and maintains all Quad Cities Campus and satellite site roadways, lots, and pathways. c. Performs all outdoor grounds maintenance, mowing, irrigation, landscaping, pest disease control measures; inclusive of all trees, shrubbery, plants, etc. d. Keeps entrances to College cleaned and picked up. e. Performs first level maintenance on all grounds equipment, vehicles, operation logs, and service records. f. Performs snow and ice removal and salt spreading and utilizing all appropriate equipment and outdoor assignments during winter months. g. Installs and repairs sod; seeds; applies fertilizer, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. h. Responsible for planning, designing, cultivating, transplanting (to include physical landscaping), watering, fertilizing, weeding, and maintaining shrubs, plants, sod, flowers, and trees provided. I. Operates power equipment, heavy equipment, and hand tools while observing College safety procedures. j. Works overtime hours as needed. k. Maintains a valid CDL Illinois driver’s license (Class B). l. Responsible for following all federal, state, local, and departmental safety regulations. m. Attends required trainings as needed. n. Maintains satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. o. Able to work outdoors in cold weather.DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
a. Assists with general tree maintenance as needed. b. Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed. c. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.OVERALL ACOUNTABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
a. High School diploma or recognized equivalent required. b. Must be in good physical health, capable of lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. c. Agriculture or horticulture background with minimum of three years experience in a similar position required. d. Ability to follow instructions with minimum supervision required. e. Ability to safely and properly use job related equipment. f. Ability to read and understand operation manuals and service information for related equipment required. g. Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff, students, and volunteers to help develop College gardens. h. Must be neat in personal appearance and dependable in work habits. i. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as the operational need arises. j. Strong background in turf management i.e., athletic and commercial management of insect, disease, and fertilization. k. Ability to work outdoors in inclement and cold weather required.LICENSURES REQUIRED (must maintain throughout duration of employment):
a. Valid CDL driver’s license (Class B) required (or must obtain within 60 days of hire). b.
