The Opportunity

PCG’s Education Consulting service line seeks Curriculum Writers for a highly complex and exciting Visual Arts digital curriculum development project. The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support educators and students in actualizing the Illinois Arts Learning Standards in the creation of a custom curriculum committed to equity and inclusive of local arts. Curriculum writers will engage in a creative, iterative, and collaborative development process to produce lessons and practice activities that are rigorous, engaging, and meaningful to students. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below.

This is a full-time, temporary, remote role, with potential for occasional in-person meetings. Some travel may be required. The anticipated start date is April 2023, with the possibility of an earlier start for candidates with availability. The projected end-date is Fall 2024, with a potential opportunity for an extension, dependent upon schedule finalization with the client.

About PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line

PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.

Project engagements have included the development of theEngageNYgrades 6-12 English Language Arts curriculum for the New York State Education Department and the delivery of implementation services across several states; the design and delivery of a system of a K-3 professional learning program for the Connecticut State Department of Education; and the creation of training and resources to support standards implementation for the Florida Department of Education. We recently collaborated with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK-12 English Language Arts and mathematics and are providing asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation. Currently, we are also developing a K-5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools (FL) to support their transition to the new Florida B.E.S.T. standards. We are also partnering with the Texas Education Agency to develop and/or revisea number ofcurricula to respond to stakeholder feedback, including K-12 Reading Language Arts, K-6 Spanish Language Arts, K-5 Mathematics, K-5 Social Studies, K-2 Spanish Skills, K-5 Science, and K-5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts).

Responsibilities

The Role

Responsibilities and expectations of Curriculum Writers include the following.

+ Developa comprehensive visual arts curricular resource aligned to specific standards and scope and sequence. Writers are responsible for creating the following deliverables:

+ Developmentally appropriate whole-group lessons, practice activities, and related instructional materials that support the development of the artistic processes and center local and diverse artistic anchors

+ Additional review, support, and challenge lessons to support the diverse needs of students

+ Assessment tools aligned to the scope and sequence

+ Ensure thatdeliverables comply with specific design criteria and are appropriate for implementation in a digital environment.

+ Engage in ahighly collaborative and rapid development process, which includes regular engagement with team members, peer review, client feedback, and other formative feedback.

+ Availability duringregularwork week, with some night or weekend work as needed.

+ Commitment for the duration of theproject with potential opportunity for future work.

Qualifications

Required/Desired Experience

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher

+ Experience teaching diverse learners in visual arts classroom(s), including English Learners and students with disabilities

+ Deep content knowledge in visual arts as evidenced by years of teaching experience in PK-12 public school setting implementing Illinois Visual Arts standards or National Core Arts Standards in visual arts

+ Experience developing curricular resources and authentic assessments for use by others

+ Familiarity with Google Drive

+ Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred)

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.?As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $75,000 – $90,000.
