Summary:

Reporting to the Director of ROPPG, the Practice Administrator is responsible for overseeing and directing the administrative clinical, and ancillary operations of ROPPG Adult Medicine and ROPPG Lake Street. Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives for the assigned areas of responsibility. Also works with the Director of ROPPG in the development of budgets, and program growth strategies. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in developing short and long range goals, and develops and implements necessary plans and budgets to achieve agreed upon goals.

• Develops and implements administrative system, policies and procedures to provide for efficient provision of patient services.

• Achieves the Practices’ fiscal goals by ensuring accurate and complete patient charges are forwarded to the billing office.

• Supervises the work of all non-physicians of practice, including clerical staff

• Establishes and implements a plan to strengthen quality and services, build volume, and manage payor mix for all services provided by the program.

• Working with the Director of ROPPG in developing, securing approval of, and implementing ambulatory care policies and procedures for TJC review.

• Ensuring provision of high quality care in accordance with established standards.

• Ensures services provided are appropriately documented.

• Mediating conflict or problems between physicians, staff, and/or patients.

• Ensuring provision of effective and efficient patient services through the establishment of appropriate quality assurance, risk management and utilization review programs.

• Interviews, hires, orients, trains, and develops assigned direct reports.

• Schedules work and time off for direct reports, ensuring adequate and efficient coverage of administrative and patient care operations.

• Coordinates scheduling of physicians.

• Responsible for quality improvement.

• Remains informed of developments in area of healthcare management by attending seminars and workshops, reading pertinent literature, as necessary.

• Participates in ROPPG meetings and implements required procedures and plans.

• Other duties or special projects as may be assigned by ROPPG Director.

Other information:

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance or a healthcare-related field.

• Three years’ experience in ambulatory care management.

• Level of knowledge of marketing, finance and general business principles.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access & Power Point).

• The organization, business, and supervisory abilities necessary to plan, direct, and control the activities of a large, complicated office, which includes clerical, nursing, and laboratory services.

• The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with staff members, patients and their families, physicians, and hospital personnel.

• The analytical ability to develop and administer business and financial controls for various programs and centers, and oversee the operation of multiple care centers.

• Extended work hours.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Master’s in Health Administration or Business Administration.

• Experience in the management of multiple hospitals-affiliated facilities.
