Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Director, Software Engineering to join our IT Applications organization. In this role, you will provide engineering expertise and thought leadership to a team of software engineers responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining front office applications for one or more business units. The perfect candidate will be an enthusiastic technologist and experienced people manager who also possesses depth in Systems Engineering, DevOps, Agile Scrum, and has passion for developing leading edge customer-centric, digital applications. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with open stack frameworks and developed/deployed products to either Azure or AWS Cloud. The Engineering lead must have a mix of business and technical abilities that will lend instant credibility across the team and provide the confidence to challenge existing assumptions to achieve the desired outcome.

In this role, you will have the ability to influence many aspects of digital engineering including ideation, design, development, deployment and operationalization of digital solutions. Responsibilities :

+ Develop strategic technology plans to provide continuous product releases for Trustmark Applications.

+ Lead, manage and grow a team of software engineers focused on developing Applications.

+ Provide hands-on technical guidance and expertise.

+ Work closely with IT shared services and Business leaders to deliver technology solutions.

+ Participate in the development and implementation of a digital technology strategy for Trustmark.

+ Promote the use of Agile delivery methods throughout the organization.

+ Partner with the Executive Director, Digital Software Engineering to implement and enforce industry standard Agile engineering practices including but not limited to branching strategies, automated unit testing coverage, code review processes, coding standards, etc.

+ Leverage SecDevOps CI/CD pipeline and release standards.

+ Embrace modern application architecture strategies and work through existing applications silos to build engaging digital experiences.

+ Partner with the Enterprise Architecture team in evaluating and standardizing the Digital technology stack and establishing design patterns.

+ Encourage innovation, implementation of emerging technologies, creative thinking, collaboration, teamwork and work within and across IT teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.

+ Responsible for resource allocation and managing activities of managers and/or individual contributors.

+ Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation and formulation of options and recommendations.

+ Provides input into defining organizational goals.

+ Develops guidelines, processes, and procedures for Software Engineering.

+ Makes decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field required

+ 10+ years of experience in IT with direct experience in software engineering

+ 3+ years participating in an organizational change to agile delivery models

+ Experience in Application development, support, and delivery

+ Strong business acumen and relationship management skills

+ Proven ability to influence all levels of the organization

+ Experience using React, Angular JS, and other frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap

+ Experience in C#, ASP.NET, Java, and supporting frameworks such as Spring

+ Experience in SecDevOps processes and pipelines especially within Azure DevOps

+ Exposure to CRM platforms such as Dynamics 365 and Salesforce

+ Experience with low/no code technologies such as PEGA

+ Working knowledge of RESTful API’s, Web APIs, and messaging platforms like Kafka

+ Experience working with Content Management Systems

+ Exposure to software engineering security concepts/best practices
