JOB SUMMARY
Cermak Health Services of Cook County (CERMAK) provides healthcare to the detainees at the Cook County Department of Corrections.
TYPICAL DUTIES
The scope of the services provided by Cermak include : health screening; primary care clinics, 24/7 urgent care center: and medical infirmary care. Primary role will be in providing services in the Cermak Urgent Care.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Chair of the Department of Correctional Health

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical college or university is required.
Licensed as a physician or surgeon in the State of Illinois or eligible to be licensed prior to starting employment, required.
Completed accredited residency program in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine or eligible to complete such residency prior to start of employment, required.
Board Certified or eligible for certification in either of the following medical specialties: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine or is a resident physician, required.
Valid Illinois Controlled Substances License (ILCS) or the ability to obtain licensure prior to starting employment, required.
Valid licensure with the Federal DEA or eligible to obtain licensure prior to starting employment, required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), preferred.
Bilingual skills (English & Spanish or English & Polish), preferred.
Record of scholarly achievement, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARCTERISTICS
CERMAK is searching for an Attending Physician who will be responsible for primarily providing care in 24/7 Cermak Urgent Care. in addition to coverage in primary care clinics to inmates in accordance with all professional standards; adhere to all federal, local and department rules and regulations; and perform all other related duties as assigned by the Chair of Department of Correctional Health, Chair of the Division of Correctional Health Clinical Operations, or Chair of the Division of Correctional Health Administrative Operations and Quality. Must successfully meet the credentialing standards established by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a State of Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or specialized training, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's start date
