As a Senior Accounting Specialist (internally known as Senior Staff Accountant II) at Caterpillar, you will independently perform accounting functions which require preparation, analysis, and communication of issues from normal to high complexity that support Caterpillar business processes. The following job is a financial reporting position within the Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) business resources team.

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution?of?Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement,?and the?design and?manufacture?of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

+ Lead special projects related to lean process improvements, corporate strategy alignment, data visualization standardization,as well as other strategic decision-making requests

+ Financial accounting including consolidation, analysis, and communication of division results along with explanations of actuals and variance to forecasts

+ Estimating various forecast and budget scenarios as needed based on changing business conditions (minimum of quarterly and annually)

+ Presentation and explanation of results to management; key business partner providing financial support for PSLD SVP reviews

+ Collaboration with internal partners to develop, coordinate, and report financial and non-financial metrics

+ Develop and implement analytics tools to continuously provide analysis, forward-looking insights, and solutions to complex problems

+ Providing financial guidance on cross-functional or business unit product teams

+ Drive behavior (ability to influence management directions) in accordance with financial targets and business unit / division / enterprise strategy

Basic Requirements:

+ 4-year degree in accounting/finance OR any 4-year degree with an accounting certification (CPA/CMA)

+ 6+ years in accounting/finance/business roles with increasing responsibility

+ Strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and ability to create a vision and lead change

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

+ Professional Certification – Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent

+ MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)

+ Knowledge of using tools such as PowerBI, Syntellis Axiom EPM, SAP Business Objects (BOBJ), SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), Excel

+ Analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to use these skills to drive team performance improvements

+ High levels of initiative, leadership, good judgement, and superior communication skills

Additional Details:

+ Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

+ This position would ideally be located in Morton, IL or Chicago, IL ; however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the U.S.
