Role Summary/Purpose:

As a Sr Engineer in the Power Electronic Systems & Component team, you will by joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electric drive technology. You will have the unique opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept, development, and design of power electronic components.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

+ Work with machine systems application teams to establish DC/DC converter requirements, architecture and electrical requirements for power electronics components / systems

+ Work with electrification component platform lead to support NTI & NPI programs

+ Detailed collaboration with CAT China team for electrical design, verification & validation plans, functional evaluation.

+ Engineer will also play an active role in supplier selection and development of potential suppliers for purchased components (DC/DC converters and PDU’s) – some limited travel will be required

+ Identify and work with other Caterpillar Subject Matter Experts on aspects of the design in which team does not have expertise to complete on their own

+ Stay up to date with the latest advances in power electronics technologies and solutions

+ Execute and support electrical commissioning and testing on purchased components

+ Identify technology and base of supply for power electronic components – work closely with test engineering team to establish robust test plans

+ Support DFMEA on purchased components in collaboration with suppliers

+ Document and resolve product issues

+ Procurement, inventory management, and shipment of components

Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree

+ Relevant work experience required – 6 years with Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years with Master’s Degree or 1+ years with Doctorate Degree

+ Previous product development experience (design / analysis)

+ Electrical and/or Electric component design and development experience

+ Excellent understanding of electrical systems

Desired Qualifications:

+ Experience with electric drive systems and/or components

+ Strong communication skills

+ Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills

+ Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex assignments

+ Excellent analytical skills; experience with circuit and system simulation and analysis tools

+ Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP & PPAP

+ Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) Issue resolution process

+ Power Electronics design and development experience

+ This position can be located in Mossville, IL, Aurora, IL, and Lafayette, IN

+ Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position

+ This position may require up to 25% travel
