Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. What you get to do every day

- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

- Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies Requirements – Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

- Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Ability to meet deadlines

- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Strong familiarity with Monthly Financial Reporting

- Annual Internal Audit experience

- Proven knowledge of Third Party Collections

- Grant accounting experience

- Comprehensive knowledge of Direct Supervision

- Internal control review experience preferred

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Great attention to detail

- Prior work done in public accounting is desired

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
