Job Description

With teams located in Chicago & Bengaluru, the Middle Market Document Preparation Team, within Wholesale Lending Services, is a high-volume production-based operation function responsible for performing due diligence through organizational, collateral & lien search information as well as creation of legal documentation for new, renewed & modified bilateral commercial loan products; adhering to state specific laws & regulations. The team partners with internal legal on document customization as required. Key systems used within Doc Prep are CLW/Aurora, Hot Docs & related third party sites.

Job summary

You will serve as the Global Head for Middle Market Document Preparation reporting into the Head of Flow Originations while managing a direct team of ~10. They are responsible to ensure the highest level of quality, ownership of the Doc Prep function, delivery of agreed upon service levels and attainment of compliance and control objectives in the most efficient way possible. In this role you will be highly visible and will collaborate regularly with Middle Market Leaders and other key business partners.

Job responsibilities

+ Lead a diverse global team; driving high employee satisfaction and retention; develop a strong pipeline of successors; manage individual and team performance goals and expectations.

+ Responsible for support of process and policy initiatives designed to improve speed, quality, overall efficiency, and create a more client focused and commercially oriented Document Preparation Operation including key technological transformations currently in flight

+ Provide appropriate governance and accountability for all business initiatives; ensure organizational alignment in the design and execution of initiatives while developing expertise in operational processes and gain in-depth understanding of business unit needs and outcomes

+ Promote a culture of continuous improvement with discipline around end-to-end workflow/process skills; participate in the review and recommendation of operational systems and procedures; develop and implement best practices in loan operations

+ Develop and implement business strategy, and influence change through effective relationship management across a wide network of partners and leverage proven financial acumen to manage budget, identify and calculate cost savings (business case development) and to direct capacity planning/project allocation

+ Direct processing and service initiatives through influence and partnership with internal teams (e.g., Risk, Operations, Sales, etc.) while presenting progress and strategy to varied audiences including executives and business partners in a crisp and efficient manner

+ Work with Risk/Control partners to proactively identify and close any control gaps that may exist and guide the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a strong controls infrastructure

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

+ 5+ years of commercial banking/lending experience, loan documentation or collateral perfection experience

+ Demonstrated, well-rounded leadership with 5+ years in leadership roles in Financial Services (or comparable industries), Credit, Service/Operations, and/or Commercial/Business Banking with proven ability to make appropriate decisions in a high-volume environment.

+ Well-developed ability to attract, train, motivate, develop, and retain employees

+ Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with ability to influence the development and execution of key risk and operational strategies and projects with proven communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to present to varied and large audiences, including senior executive updates

+ Demonstrated financial acumen to manage budget, identify and calculate cost savings (business case development), to direct capacity planning/project allocation and coordinate/plan daily production pipeline

+ Established background in promoting a proactive risk culture and driving control initiatives, including knowledge of regulatory requirements

+ Exceptional analytical, project management, decision-making and problem resolution skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

+ Bachelor’s Degree in business or legal related field

+ Experience with related credit systems such as ACBS, ARC/iCRD, Deal Works, HotDocs etc

+ Commercial/high volume credit operations experience in conventional, real-estate and/or Small Business Administration loans (SBA)

+ Knowledge of the Firm’s or similar financial institution’s credit policy
