The Director of Solution Architecture is a senior member of the IT department and leads a team of solution architects that function as first choice advisors to critical functional areas enabling them to grow and mature their technical capabilities. The person in this role will ensure each functional area is getting the right level of solution support from the Solution Architecture team. This will include forecasting demand and acquiring the right supply of expertise.
The Director of Solution Architecture will continually work with their upstream and downstream partners while striving to provide optimal value to the strategic planning and solution design workstreams. The person in this role will, also, work with the Enterprise Architects and play a critical role as we continue to mature our IT architecture practice.
Lead team of Solution Architects by way of coaching, mentoring, and acting as their career advisor.
Host team meetings and workshops
Conduct 1on1 status meetings
Drive continuous improvement of our systemic methods and approach to solution architecture
Manage escalations pertaining to Solution Architecture
Act as a first-choice advisor to Firm leadership, LOB/FG key stakeholders, business relationship leads, Platform Directors/Leaders, etc. regarding architecture best practices and approaches.
Collaborates with Enterprise Architects on how to constantly evolve our architecture practice to meet the needs of the firm.
Manage team growth and expansion to meet service level demands via recruitment and on-boarding of full time and contract staff.
Assist with inter-departmental administrative and tactical efforts
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Excellent communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Leadership and Project team members
Demonstrated ability to effectively work/lead with local and remote team members.
Ability to attract, lead, motivate, and retain a team.
Possess excellent influence and negotiation skills, strong executive presence, and business acumen.
Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
Must be a self-starter and have the analytical skills required for the job
Minimum of 5+ years in a similar or higher technical leadership role.
Broad experience across multiple technology disciplines.
Prior experience, implementing mission critical and complex software solutions
Experience architecting, delivering, and extending solution in an agile and waterfall methodology
Experience designing and leading cloud base solutions
Must be a confident leader in influencing the solution strategy with business and technical team members
