OCED is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $20B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interest in large-scale clean energy demonstration projects, particularly in renewable systems, carbon capture and removal, hydrogen, and nuclear energy technologies.
Cost Estimators collect and analyze data in order to assess the time, money, materials, and labor required to make a product or provide a service. Identify factors affecting costs, such as production time, materials, and labor. Read blueprints and technical documents in order to prepare estimates. Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors. Calculate, analyze, and adjust estimates. Recommend ways to cut costs. Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients. Maintain records of estimated and actual costs.
REQUIRMENTS
+ Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience or master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
+ Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
+ Clean Energy experience desired but not required.
+ Remote position on eastern time zone.
+ Experience in DOE environment is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.? Work is mostly sedentary in nature but will require periodic standing and walking and lifting.? Must have good vision and be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.?
