The Opportunity

This position supports the engineering assessment; design and development, start up, validation, and implementation of automation equipment for high volume production applications.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

+ Supports the design, build, commissioning, and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment.

+ Develops project timelines; provides periodic status updates; identifies project risks and contingencies. Participates in cross-functional team meetings; obtains quotations from vendors and coordinates with various disciplines to meet project objectives.

+ Supports validation activities. Works with cross functional teams to validate automated processes. Completes risk analysis (through FMEA and other risk analysis tools) to identify process and equipment risk areas. supports protocol development for testing equipment. Executes test plans, and documents results in validation reports.

+ Documenting and Managing Change – Justifies changes, quality and regulatory information, and manufacturing readiness information. Executes changes through document control and the quality system to properly implement project outcomes.

+ Drives Process Improvement efforts. Identifies opportunities to improve process capability and process robustness. Detects and isolates sources of variation and performs root cause analysis on automated processes. Proposes and implements process and automation improvements to drive consistency in process, eliminate scrap, reduce re-work, increase equipment uptime, and improve overall process performance. Utilizes traditional Root Cause Analysis, Lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools.

+ Ensures quality through design Techniques and Design Alternatives – Participates in Engineering Design Reviews utilizing Engineering Procedures and Engineering Tools and incorporates recommendations.

+ Collaborates across functional areas – Exchanges information with product team members, scientists, engineers, and other systems development personnel.

+ Performs Investigations – Participates in investigations to determine root cause for low complexity issues. Helps troubleshoot problems.

+ Utilizes appropriate experimental, statistical, and engineering tools.

+ Advances Engineering Expertise – Maintains current technical skills and functional area expertise

+ Receives general direction for engineering deliverables.

+ Applies engineering technical knowledge.

+ Able to assess project risks and develop solutions to basic problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering/technical discipline

+ 2-5+ years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experienced in the development of assembly automation solutions, robotics, and complex automated manufacturing equipment.

+ Experienced in developing project timelines, contingency planning and milestone tracking.

+ Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and principles. Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design (DOE).

+ Knowledge of mechanical design, computer aided design (CAD).

+ Knowledge of basic electrical wiring and circuit diagrams.

The base pay for this position is $62,700.00 – $125,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
