Job Description
Medical Technologist: Perform chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, or spinal fluid and conduct clinical laboratory testing including hematology, coagulation, chemistry, serology/immunology, Blood Bank, bacteriology, and urinalysis in the hospital setting to determine presence of normal or abnormal components for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Collect through venous, arterial, or capillary blood collection from patients and study blood samples to determine the number of cells, their morphology, or their blood group, blood type, or compatibility for transfusion purposes, using microscopic techniques. Analyze laboratory findings to check accuracy of the results, and perform, review, and document quality control and complete corrective action, as appropriate. Ensure remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications; Operate, calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis or computer-controlled analyzers. Perform Proficient Testing and evaluate annual competency testing. Document or enter data from analysis of medical test or clinical results into computer for storage. Observe hospital and laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
