Job Description
- Design and develop API & services solutions including SOAP and RESTful based web services using Microservices & Miniservices architecture, OpenShift, Fuse, ESB, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, Java, Git, GitHub, MongoDB, Oracle database and other key technologies.
- Ensure that you maintain (or gain) sufficient knowledge and expertise in the technologies being used, in order to be the SME and the technical go-to person for the development team.
- Help lead Service Lifecycle Governance activities including leading the council that ensures high quality design and development of all APIs.
- Collaborate with all global vendors to ensure API standards and best practices are enforced, thereby ensuring stability, scalability, transparency and other key factors are optimized for all cross-system solutions.
- Collaborate with end users and project team members on development of requirements and design of applications.
- Perform a development lead role on projects as needed. Develop time estimates for project deliverables.
- Maintain design and development standards and best practices (keeping these aligned with current industry trends), and ensure all software delivered aligns with such standards and best practices.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new ideas or tools for improved approaches to business problems.
- Identify and communicate potential risks, issues and roadblocks to various stakeholders in a timely manner. Advise manager of these accordingly, and provide options, and contribute to the remediation of such items.
- Perform and participate in peer design and code reviews, and verify traceability back to the technical requirements.
- Coach junior team members as appropriate to help them perform at their highest levels.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, current issues, trends and tools affecting application development within the API & web services space.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new ideas or tools for improved approaches to business problems.
Telecommuting within normal commuting distance of the U.S. Cellular Chicago office is permitted.
