Job Overview

The Battery Design & Development Engineer will focus on advanced battery technologies for the next generation of zero emission mining equipment and infrastructure.

Key Job Responsibilities

Define validation requirements for battery systems, plan tests requiring innovative approaches, and review results for design compliance, and oversee engineering evaluations of battery systems (including battery cell chemistry evaluation and selection).
Plan innovative changes to existing designs or conceptual thinking to new designs.
Recognize and document new intellectual property that differentiates Komatsu products.
Provide technical expertise and direction to Regulatory Team related to battery standards and regulations.
Provide specifications and analysis for battery thermal management systems (BTMS).
Develop and maintain understanding of the battery management systems (BMS), including necessary operational analysis.

Qualifications/Requirements

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
Approximately 3-5 years of experience with industrial machinery, construction, or mining equipment
Experience with electric vehicles, high voltage, or lithium ion battery design desired
Proficiency in engineering principles including but not limited to structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electricity, ergonomics, 3D CAD and data management.
Proficiency in software applications including 3D CAD (Pro Engineer Wildfire 2.0 or 4.0), Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel.
