Peraton is looking for a highly skilled, dedicated, and motivated professional to join our team in supporting the Joint Distribution Process Analysis Center (JDPAC) at the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM).
The position is for a Mid-level Software Engineer to support the Enterprise Data Sciences (EDS) team in its mission to advance decision-making for the command by developing and deploying data science tools to support USTRANSCOM's ability to project and sustain combat power at a time and place of the Nation's choosing. The right candidate will leverage their experience and knowledge to lead the operationalization of statistical and modeling projects to transform USTRANSCOM into a data-driven enterprise.
Location: Flexible for occasional telework - must be local to work location, Scott AFB, IL.
Responsibilities:
Develop and operationalize custom data science tools
Assess and improve cloud-based computing infrastructure
Monitor the health and use of the system
Package the team's algorithms into solutions for use by leaders, operators, and analysts
Communicate advanced concepts and information in an understandable manner for audiences of varying levels of competency
Apply strong personal skills to lead and nurture project team members
Develop and maintain professional relationships to support USTRANSCOM
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technology trends
Participate in code reviews
Provide recommendations for best practice, and recommendations for performance-based refactoring
Manage software version control, development environments, and operational environments
Utilize Software Engineering Principals to improve delivery of data models
Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize, troubleshoot, and improve delivery of data models
Research and evaluate data science platforms and tools as they become available
Strong leadership skills and innovative ideas.
Possess a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Demonstarted excellent oral and written communication skills

 


Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 5-7 years' experience, or a master's degree with 3-5 years' experience, or a PhD with 0-2 years' experience
Experience with the development, implementation, and integration of enterprise level software/data science solutions
Strong programming skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance (interim clearance required to commence task work)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with python, AWS, Advana, Palantir, data science/machine learning
Experience performing DevOps (build, deployment, integration validation, and monitoring)
Familiarity with USTRANSCOM/DoD processes and systems
Active DoD Secret Clearance

Target Salary Range


$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
