Job Description

Department: Respiratory Therapy Requirements: Education: Requires an RCP license. Requires current BLS card Training and Experience: Must have good public relation skills and interact with people well. Good computer skills are necessary. Previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred. Excellent motivation skills. Must be able to assist other staff when problems and/or questions arise. Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. Must maintain patient confidentiality and information per policy and procedures. Must be dependable, trustworthy, and flexible. Description: Position Responsibilities: 1. Establishes & maintains patent airway & administers appropriate bronchial hygiene. 2. Performs all RT procedures (nebulizer, CPT, IS, respiratory parameters, BiPap, ET CO2, O2 set –up and maintenance, etc.) 3. Charts and documents procedures performed. 4. Responds to Code Blue and assists with airway management & CPR. 5. Performs necessary patient oxygen rounds (including the application of proper equipment for all age groups). 6. Performs pulse oximetry assessments on all age groups. 7. Mixes and administers medication used in RT (includes proper calculation of medication for infant and pediatric patients). 8. Uses and maintains portable oxygen equipment, cylinders and regulators per departmental policies and procedures. 9. Performs 12 lead ECGs per departmental policies and procedures. 10. Performs Holter Monitor per departmental policies and procedures. 11. Performs Cardiac stress per departmental policies and procedures 12. Responsible for maintaining and obtaining medications from Pharmacy. 13. Responsible for keeping the department clean and orderly. 14. Responsible for keeping the equipment clean. 15. Responsible for stocking and cleaning RT cart daily. 16. Responsible for stocking and cleaning ECG cart daily. 17. Responsible for checking medications for outdates. 18. Responsible for checking and documenting oxygen tank pressures in ER. 19. Included in the on-call rotation for the RT department.
