The Distribution Optimization Planner supports operations by identifying & positioning products in their most effective location. As the subject matter expert on the slotting software, they configure new slotting scenarios to meet desired outcomes, generate move recommendations based on current/future product assortment, and define best practices to maintain slotting integrity. This individual is a liaison between operations, planning, and forecasting. They oversee the storage of products through their life cycle at the DC. The Planner leverages their problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, & understanding of warehouse operations to maximize storage capacities & building throughput.

Primary Responsibilities:

+ Determines the most efficient placement of all product within the Distribution Center by analyzing item dimensions, forecasts, and demand history.

+ Monitors item forecasts and inbound shipments to ensure items are in effective locations.

+ Executes data analysis to determine out-of-place items throughout the DC, balance work across zones, and maximize throughput.

+ Maintains accurate warehouse model in OptiSlot software to reflect all layout and strategy changes.

+ Troubleshoots and resolves errors caused by daily operations.

+ Defines and documents best practices to ensure operational compliance to established slotting and drive labor efficiencies.

+ Reviews daily shorts and supplemental reporting to identify trends driving allocation errors.

+ Presents recommended solutions to senior leadership.

+ Prioritizes daily moves lists by determining the most impactful product moves to create room for new SKUs & utilize warehouse space.

+ Builds accurate reports, models, & dashboards in order to provide visibility to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and overall inventory health.

+ Validates data files loaded into slotting software & reviews generated software outputs. Works with the Technology team through any data integrity concerns.

+ Leads semi-annual reslotting projects in the distribution center to reoptimize current and future assortment. Coordinates the necessary cross-functional teams to execute the reoptimization.

+ Generates intelligent strategies to prepare for demand fluctuations & facilitate SKU exit from the DC at the end of its life cycle.

+ Builds and leverages relationships with functional leaders and collaborates with internal business partners to deliver optimal capacity solutions.

+ Works closely with Industrial Engineers to provide data & analytical support for process improvement initiatives and other network projects where appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Excellent time management & task prioritization skills. Ability to work under demanding time constraints.

+ Strong attention to detail. Able to validate large sets of data for accuracy.

+ Excellent communication skills across all levels of leadership.

+ Ability to build automated reports in Excel, Power BI, and/or other data visualization tools

+ Computer proficiency with the ability to easily learn new software & systems.

+ Leadership skills – comfortable leading and training others to effectively use systems.

+ Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external parties.

+ Understanding of distribution center & eCommerce operations.

+ Strong math & data analysis skills. Ability to solve difficult & complex problems

Experience Required:

+ Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management (or equivalent experience)

+ 2 years experience in an analytical, optimization/statistical modeling, or process improvement-oriented role.

+ Experience communicating and visualizing complex analysis results to business leaders

+ Basic experience with WMS (Blue Yonder, JDA) and/or Slotting Software (OptiSlot) preferred.

+ Distribution Center operations preferred
