Description

Assists upper management with analysis and research regarding policies, practices, procedures, and operations related to the Equal Opportunity Office and its various functions. This is accomplished by conducting advanced research on best practices, preparing research and reports, managing complex projects that can require coordination across departments; Preparing and monitoring the Department Budget; analyzing operating procedures and policies to make recommendations to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.

Examples of Duties
Discrimination Complaint Intake/Investigation:
* Performs intake services for charges of discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations including interviewing; determinations of jurisdiction; and investigatory practices.
* Maintains a tracking system for all complains.

Equal Employment Opportunity Certification Processing:
* Oversees intake of Equal Employment Opportunity certification applications and renewals.
* Reviews required information and issuance of certificates.
* Answers questions pertaining to certifications and/or payment processes.
* Enters business information into EEO database.
* Reviews forms for contract compliance and makes recommendations to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
* Prepares mandatory reports on behalf of the Equal Opportunity Office.

Administrative Support:
* Provides administrative support by coordinating meetings.
* Oversees purchasing by maintaining supplies, and processing purchase orders and requisitions.
* Monitors department budget expenditures.
* Prepares agendas/minutes for the Fair Employment Commission and the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Disabilities.
* Attends meetings as directed.
* Collects data and statistical analysis needed to complete a variety of reports to include the Affirmative Action Plan and EEO-4.
* Provides support for the PeoriaCorps program as needed.

Peoria Equity Accountability Program (PeAP) Certification Processing and Marketing:
* Intakes Peoria Equity & Accountability certification applications and renewals.
* Reviews required information and issuance of certificates.
* Answers questions pertaining to certification processes.
* Enters business information into the PeAP database.
 Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Sociology, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or related field; and one year up to and including three years progressively responsible related experience required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, considered.
 Supplemental Information
Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Ability to deal with a system of real numbers; and practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Knowledge of:
* Different dimensions of diversity such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic status, and religion.
* Best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the ability to develop, implement and evaluate DEI initiatives.
* Cultural competencies and understanding the impact of different cultural norms and values on DEI initiatives.

Skill in:
* Communicating DEI goals and initiatives, including the ability to deliver presentations and facilitate conversations on DEI-related topics.
* Interpreting data, assessing progress, and measuring the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
* Leadership and collaboration to lead DEI initiatives, build alliances and coalitions.
* Emotional intelligence as it relates to working with diverse groups, addressing sensitive issues, and creating inclusive environments.
