Job Overview

To ensure KAC's compliance with product performance regulations. This includes focus areas encompassing emissions, product labeling, and notification standards, and safety standards. This individual is responsible for alerting Komatsu LTD to changes in the regulatory environment within North America surrounding product performance requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Good working knowledge of major North American Regulations such as:
USA Clean Air Act / EPA Engine Emission Regulations (40 CFR XXXX)
OSHA Regulations for Construction and mining equipment
MSHA regulations for above ground and underground mines.
Canadian (EC) Engine Emission Regulation
Canadian and Provincial (OHS) Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
Pressure Vessel Regulations and Standards
USA Code of Federal Regulations
Forestry Regulations -- particularly Oregon OSHA, British Colombia Forestry Regulations, OSHA Forestry Regulations
Answer questions regarding regulations from Engineering, Service, Marketing Sales, and other departments
Serve in standards organizations such as SAE, ISO, and industry associations such as Association of Equipment Manufacturers, Engine Manufacturers Association, etc.
As necessary, work with KAC Legal Dept. or their outside counsel to resolve regulation related issues.
As required, work with Regulatory Agencies such as EPA, EC, etc. to refine, interpret clarify regulation issues
File documentation required by agencies such as EPA, EC, CARB, etc.
Participate in Global Development Meetings and notify Kltd of additions or changes in N.A. laws.
Participate in the classification of goods and technologies for export per the US Commerce Control List.
Provide export control assistance as required to ensure that KAC's products and practices comply with US law and company policy.
As necessary, work with KLTD to resolve regulations and compliance issues in documenting change requests for the "KES" system and "Safety Check Sheet" system to keep them up to date.
Understand the principles of the Komatsu Way and apply them to daily activity.

Qualifications/Requirements

BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Agricultural or General) and 5 or more
years of experience in the design of related products.
Engineering background and broad experience in construction, agricultural, mining equipment manufacturing methods and procedures.
Must have strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate and document technical details and their relationship to the legal environment of product development
Experience with the legal environment of Engineering Development including EPA Emissions rules preferred
Competence with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Web meeting applications
Ability to read and understand legal documents and regulations
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
