Job Description
Provide in-home respite for registered family (families) by ensuring responsible care for the individual with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their siblings under 18 years of age, if applicable.
- Provide quality supervision to the respite client and their siblings, as assigned or needed by the family.
- Provide care and activities structured toward the respite client's needs, wishes, and capabilities.
- Develop and maintain a positive, cooperative, and professional demeanor with each family being served and IRC staff.
- Always maintain CONFIDENTIALITY with any family in which respite is being provided.
- Ensure maintenance of home while providing respite services.
- Report to the family at each scheduled visit the routine and activities followed/conducted and any significant events which occur during respite.
- Report any unusual incidents to the IRC Manager of Programs and Families and follow procedures as assigned.
- Serve as a liaison between each family and In-Home Services Office Staff.
- Follow procedures for TELEPUNCH automated system for time and attendance.
- Complete required Background/Registry checks as deemed by DHS.
- Strictly adhere to the Confidentiality statement provided upon hire.
- Remain current in trainings/background check requirements, especially First Aid and CPR Certifications.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by needs of the family receiving respite.
- Local travel required, as the incumbent will drive to the family's location(s) to provide respite care.
- Location of work will be dependent on the location of the family seeking respite care.
- Must be able to show proof of valid driver's license and valid vehicle insurance.
