Overview
As a Survey Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will be part of a survey field crew performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, and construction stakeouts. You will perform land survey work through the application of surveying principles and practices and use of modern survey equipment. You will operate instrumentation, clear brush, drive stakes, hold chains or rods, record data, prepare sketches and maintain equipment as needed. You will also have the opportunity to be responsible for utilizing surveying software applications to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and performing basic survey computations. Ultimately, this position will provide a foundation for further professional development as a land surveyor.
Qualifications
4 or more years of experience in the practice of Land Surveying;
Working knowledge of the principals and practices of Land Surveying;
A Valid Driver's License;
Knowledge of MicroStation would be preferred but not required.
You will be working under the direction of an Illinois Professional Land Surveyor and will be asked to:
Assist in the preparation/review of ROW plats, legal descriptions, and various survey exhibits/plats.
Assist in the maintenance of the Plats & Plans database which includes scanning and filing electronic copies of completed Plats of Highways and conveyance documents
Assist in providing archived ROW documents requested by the general public.
Assist in field work to locate existing survey monuments, stake right-of-way and easement corners and locate existing improvements to aid in the preparation of Plats and Legal Descriptions.
