Position Summary
The University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Joliet, Illinois, invites applications for an adjunct Band Director to lead the Fighting Saints pep band beginning August 2023. The Band Director is responsible for the recruitment of participants, artistic direction and administration of the USF Fighting Saints band program. The Director will oversee music selection, arrangements, staging, auditions, rehearsals and the scheduling of events including home women's and men's basketball and football games. Evening and weekend hours are required as is some travel. The Band Director will adhere to rules set by the NAIA. The Director will be expected to engage in outreach and recruiting activities for the band and university and to take an active role in department activities, such as collaboration with other adjunct and full-time faculty.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct and manage all facets of the pep band
Engage in collaborative outreach and recruiting
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
* Master's degree in Music, or Bachelor's degree in Music Education with teaching experience
* Two (2) years' experience directing band or instrumental ensembles at the college or high school level
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of students, faculty, coaches, administrators, and staff
* Ability to represent the University to off-campus constituencies, including alumni, friends, corporate partners, and donors
* Understanding and supportive of the values and ideals of a Franciscan, Catholic, and liberal arts tradition
Preferred Requirements
* Doctorate in Music
* Five (5) years' experience directing a college or high school pep band or marching band
* Experience in arranging music for winds, brass and percussion and writing marching band drill
* Ability to create a show concept design
* Mastery of design creation, either by hand or with the use of Pyware (or other formation design software)
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Part-time Adjunct Faculty, nine-month position.
