Job Description

Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Lead Developer to be responsible for leading modernization of the core commercial insurance applications as well supporting the existing applications on the path to modernization. Specific duties include: analyze existing applications, analyze customers' needs and design, document, test, and develop software; analyze programs to ensure that they are efficient, recommend appropriate changes; work with coding and quality checks of program code, test plans/results, related objects, and documentation; conduct preliminary estimates / Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort of new/change to application functionality; design and develop documentation of proposed procedures and systems; perform preliminary evaluation of packaged software; support the implementation activities, troubleshoot system environmental issues, and provide training; respond to Production Support issues; monitor and audit the work of junior staff to ensure that it meets installation standards, design specifications, efficiency, and accuracy; and develop simple business cases for defined projects to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process. Position requires a certification on cloud hosting (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AZURE Certification). Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely is available.

 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Senior Applications Consultant, or similar position in the IT Development area. Must have 5 years of experience with each of the following: working in cloud-based application development AZURE and AWS in latest .Net Core frameworks and deployment stacks including Kubernetes cluster with Jenkins; working with REST API Services with near real time-based integration using Rabbit MQ; setting up AWS and AZURE resources for generation and process of the data files including for data migration or transfer to another system; working with SQL, including Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL; and working with NOSQL database tools, including Cassandra, AWS Dynamo DB, and Raven DB. Specific experience must also include: leading development work related to industry-specific solutions based on Customer needs; leading development team in trouble shooting defects called in by users; working with the architecture and BA teams to design new integrations within the underwriting landscape; and performing code reviews and validating recommended solutions by other developers. Must have a certification on cloud hosting (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AZURE Certification). Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely is available.
