Job Description

Ortho/Neuro/Peds (ONP) Unit is a 30-bed medical, surgical, pediatric specialty unit. Ortho and Neuro programs in ONP are Rush Copley Strategic Initiatives. We are a part of the Center for Joint Reconstruction and Replacement Program and Primary Stroke Center. Our 6-bed pediatric population is predominately medical with respiratory illness and is treated by pediatric-trained nurses. RN retention rate at ONP is the highest among other inpatient units with excellent nursing skill mix and customized new employee orientation.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator is a registered nurse who utilizes the nursing process to assure care is provided to the assigned patient population in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the staff members assigned to the shift or specialty team and for the successful operational and administrative functions of the shift. The Clinical Coordinator serves as a resource and assures care is provided in a compassionate, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion, is based on the Caring Model, and exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of Rush Copley and in accordance with policies and procedures. The clinical coordinator assures the highest degree of quality care is followed at all times keeping the care and safety of the assigned patient population as a top priority. This RN demonstrates proficient leadership skills at the unit level. The RN must demonstrate excellent customer service skills in interactions with patients, families, visitors, staff, and physicians.

Primary Customers: Patients and their families, Physicians, Department Director, Department Manager, Multidisciplinary Team, and Community Agencies

Position Requirements:

+ Current IL RN Licensure

+ American Heart Association CPR and PALS.

+ BSN degree required. Certification in Orthopedic Nursing, Neuroscience Nursing, Pediatric Nursing or Med-Surg Nursing preferred.

+ Demonstrated leadership ability.

+ Must be willing to care for pediatric patients
