Description
We currently have an opening in our Chicago office for a Transportation Engineer with a minimum of 11 years of experience for our Transportation & Infrastructure division. You will have the opportunity to lead as Project Engineer on a variety of public projects with a focus on leading projects towards Design Approval for Counties and IDOT.

Responsibilities:
Provide support and oversight during Phase I projects
Assisting with assigned tasks on Phase II projects
The study and design of highway facilities
Preparation of reports, drawings, specifications, calculations, and monitoring work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and agency guidelines.
Working as a project engineer or discipline lead for oversight
Lead and mentor junior level team highway engineers

Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, with a current Illinois PE license preferred
Required Experience - minimum 11 years of experience in highway studies and designs
Obtained Design Approval for a Federally Approved Categorical Exclusion project as the Project Engineer for an IDOT project
Obtained Design Approval for a State Approved Categorical Exclusion project as the Project Engineer for an IDOT project
Exposure to and general understanding of the NEPA process
Proficiency in MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships
Good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn
Desired Skills:
Experience preparing an Environmental Impact Statement or Environmental Assessment
Familiar or experience with Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) projects
Familiar or experience with Tollway Master Plan projects
Experience using ProjectWise is a plus
An understanding of other disciplines such as drainage, maintenance of traffic, signal design, erosion control, structures, and construction
Expertise with 3D modeling and BIM for Infrastructure using Bentley Products
Previous experience with the following clients is desired: Illinois Tollway, Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), counties and municipalities in the greater Chicago area and familiarity with their policies and procedures
