Job Description

We have a full-time EVS Technician position open. The Environmental Technician is responsible for cleaning and servicing the Hospital, the Rehab Center, and the Physician’s Clinics. Personnel must be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions. The EVS Technician must attend all meetings and training sessions as requested. May be required to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays, provide hospital security and be interchangeable with other workers in the Housekeeping and Laundry departments.

The Environmental Technician's responsibilities are to see to all general cleaning and servicing of all areas within the Hospital, the Rehab Center, and the Physician's Clinics. Their duties are to include but are not limited to the following; the daily cleaning of all patient rooms, restrooms, and offices throughout; the Environmental Services Tech cleans, vacuums, sweeps, mops, and waxes all floors; dust furniture and equipment; cleans window sills, empties trash containers, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; scours and polishes showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment; replenishes supplies of soap and towels; polishes and cleans counters, doors, and windows; arranges supplies and keeps utility and storage rooms in order; performs a variety of other various un-related duties such as assisting with patient lifting and traffic control when needed and other duties as instructed.

Qualifications:


A. Education: Must have a high school education or equivalent.

B. Training and experience: Knowledge and experience in janitorial duties are desirable, but not essential. Workers can reach full productivity after on-the-job training.

D. Job Knowledge: Must know how to use common house-cleaning devices, such as brooms, mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads, to keep areas clean and well-serviced. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.

F. Physical Demands: The Environmental Services Technician must be able to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital and handle minor maintenance matters. Persons in this position must be able to stand and walk; climb ladders; turn, reach overhead, stoop and crouch while performing tasks; push and pull wet mops, dry mops, vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, floor care machines, and furniture; and lift and carry objects, equipment, and supplies up to approximately 100 lbs. Vision must be adequate to read and understand printed instructions, procedures, hazards, warnings on labels, etc. The Environmental Technician should have the ability to read and write and follow written and oral instructions. Should be able to understand and absorb new work methods.
