BUYER - ManufacturingAbout this opportunity:
This position will be responsible for procuring materials, managing inventory, and reducing spend, while improving processes. The Buyer must be proactive, driven and have a sense of urgency. The Buyer must have a deep understanding of supply chain, category management, and how to maintain supplier relationships. This role requires a strong ability to perform independently, problem solving skills and strong analytical skills. This role reports to the Supply Chain Manager.Responsibilities:
- Procure packaging and raw materials in line with specified cost and quality
- Ensure all materials within the categories managed are delivered in time for production
- Manage and reduce inventory to required levels
- Creation of weekly and monthly reporting to management
- Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
- Limit expired and obsolete inventory disposals due to excess buying
- Build and manage relationships with suppliers to maximize value
- Conduct quarterly reviews to ensure vendor performance is understood and measured
- Drive cost savings through improved operational efficiencies and regular pricing exercises
- Provide monthly forecasts to all relevant suppliers
- Create SOPs to ensure continuity of department
- Work closely with internal and external production teams to ensure bottling is never impacted
- Lead category management projects to optimize purchasing
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues
- Increase visibility in categories managed
- Support NBD development
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with staff, stakeholders, and suppliers
- Great communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Analytical, numerically astute, with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets
- Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts production and manufacture followed by customer order fulfillment
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) would be beneficial
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 plus years of procurement and supply chain experience
- Experience in a manufacturing industry preferable
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects
- Strong analytical skills - Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products
