The Actuary role on the Individual Specialty team is an opportunity to provide pricing and analytics for dental and vision benefits included within Humana’s growing Medicare Advantage business. Benefit analytics and consulting, trend analysis, and experience modeling will be key areas of focus. Responsibilities

The Actuary will provide actuarial support across a broad range of actuarial and business needs for Humana Specialty’s Medicare dental and vision product lines. The Actuary will work on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial. The Actuary will be responsible for providing methodology and developing assumptions for business partners’ requests, deciding on insightful and actionable business information.

Specifically, as part of the Medicare Specialty team the Actuary will:

+ Support annual Bid Pricing for Humana and CarePlus Dental MSB pricing

+ Provide analytics on Unit Cost and current and new Trend Bender opportunities

+ Collaborate with MA market teams and provide competitive analytics to support their dental and vision MSB strategy

+ Maintain and enhance Actual-to-Expected reporting summaries to be shared with MA market teams

In addition, the Actuary will:

+ Analyze existing processes and recommend enhancements/improvements to methodology

+ Take full ownership of outcomes and operate with independence

+ Make decisions on moderately complex to substantially complex issues regarding technical approach and analysis of situations that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors for project components.

+ Communicate high level summary results to business partners and leadership

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree

+ Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation

+ Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)

+ Strong communication skills

+ Comprehensive knowledge of Excel

+ Experience with SAS, SQL, and other data systems

+ Experience in more than two functions (e.g., modeling, pricing, rate filing, reporting & analysis, reserving or trending)

Preferred Qualifications

+ ASA with at least 3 years experience in the health industry

+ FSA with at least 1 year experience in the health industry

+ Pricing exp
