City Experiences is seeking Seadog Ticket Booth for City Experiences operation in Chicago, IL.

About the Opportunity:

The Deckhand is responsible to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the vessel, ensuring guest comfort and safety while underway, and assisting with docking and undocking.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences RESPECT Service System.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in Our RESPECT System (OSS)
  • Follow safety procedures in order to ensure the protection of passengers and vessel
  • Participate in routine safety drills to prepare for major incidents
  • Handle lines to moor vessels to pier
  • Stand watch over passengers in ships' bow or stern in order to look for obstructions in a ships path or to locate navigational aids such as buoys and lighthouses
  • Assist Captain and supervisory personnel to maintain vessel equipment and systems while maintaining cleanliness and safety of all common areas
  • Deliver informative and entertaining narrations to passengers on Lakefront and Extreme Thrill Rides.
  • Advertise upcoming cruises to patrons by passing out brochures and answering questions
  • Ability to lift at least 90 pound ramp to safely board and disembark passengers
  • Maintain order on dock and in front of ticket booth by facilitating lines and providing assistance to guests
  • Actively engage with guests by answering questions, assisting with strollers or walkers, etc.
  • Sweep, mop, and hose vessel decks and exterior to remove dirt, and debris
  • Load or unload materials from vessels; gather and remove trash from vessel
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time, dressing and stowing personal items prior to clocking in
  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards found within employee handbook
  • Additional job duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Energetic, friendly and enthusiastic demeanor
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pre-employment and on-going random drug testing is required for all marine personnel
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
  • Must possess a service orientation actively looking for ways to help others
  • Ability to work for at least 8 hours without sitting
  • Ability to lift furniture and other heavy items such as provisions up and down stairs, at least 50lbs, multiple times per day
  • Required to throw mooring lines from ship to pier
  • Must be available for work on all major holidays throughout employment this includes, but is not limited to, Memorial Day weekend, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Air and Water Show, etc.
