Dani Rivera with Robert Half is working with a client who is seeking a Controller to become a part of a successful company and take responsibility for an accounting department. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role’s duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. 5+ years of experience and construction industry experience is required.

Requirements – 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Great attention to detail

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

- Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Proven analytical skills – defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

- Supervising experience

- Financial reporting experience required

- Proficiency in Full Cycle Accounting

- Construction experience desired

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
