Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides professional support for pre-award and post-award activities relating to grants, contracts, proposals, and awards. Provides specialized support for the research enterprise within the assigned unit, including pre-and post-award administration for all sponsored activity.
Serves as liaison between PIs, Office of Research Services (ORS), Sponsored Program Accounting (SPA), and all other ancillary units
This position reports directly to the Director of the Office of Research Services.
Pre-award activities include:
reading proposal guidelines, collecting, composing, and preparing administrative components of proposal submissions, preparing applications, developing and preparing budgets, and monitoring regulatory compliance requirements. Managing external subaward communication for proposal submission.
Works directly with faculty to identify, prepare, and submit proposals to federal and non/federal sponsors, continuation applications, just-in-time submissions, no-cost extensions, and other administrative processes. Gathers needed documentation and managed the execution of sub-awards, sponsored consulting agreements, amendments,
Post-award activities include:
providing oversight and guidance of post-award administration to principal investigators (PI) to ensure compliance with sponsor terms and conditions and university policies and procedures. Specific tasks include account creation, regulatory and compliance monitoring, salary/effort allocations, cost allocations, and all grant-related expenditures.
More generally, the individual helps ensure clear communication to PIs, and works with the ORS team to ensure standardization of practice, and adherence to changes in grant and contract policies at the federal, state and local levels.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field and two-four years of related experience in grant and contract administration.

Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and analytical skills required. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work well with a variety of constituents.

Candidates should be familiar with electronic research administration such as Grants.gov/eRA Commons, NSF, DOJ, etc. Candidates should possess advanced computer skills, and have the ability to quickly master specialized software applications.
