Job Description
The Engineering Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team who acts as a technical advisor and is responsible for all engineering and facility functions in the plant. Will develop short and long term strategic plans for the plant and lead cost reduction activities through collaboration with other department heads, corporate resources and outside vendors. Provides leadership and supervision to the Engineering team in the assignment and coordination of work to ensure safety, quality, and maximum production efficiencies.Mauser Packaging Solutions is a global leader in solutions and services across the packaging lifecycle, providing packaging worldwide to companies in industries from food, personal care, paints and chemicals.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and coordinates engineering resources and provides recommendations for capital and continuous improvement projects both short and long term.
- Project management, collaborate with teams inside and outside the plant.
- Facility management, ensuring all regulatory compliance with various governmental agencies such as city, county, state is met on a consistent basis.
- Reviews the operation of equipment with appropriate personnel to identify engineering issues in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity and Customer Satisfaction.
- Tracks, analyzes and improves the Engineering department's KPIs.
- Review location's Key Performance Indicators KPIs (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to make recommendations for improving plant operations, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and maintenance problem resolution.
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommends changes in designs, tolerances or processing methods.
- Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing.
- Engages employees in problem resolution to improve production issues/efficiencies utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques as needed.
- Fosters a positive working environment and drives Engineering team to meet set productivity targets and performance standards.
- Driving annual cost reduction actions to meet or exceed budgeted targets.
- Monitors and reviews Engineering budget on a monthly basis; Prepares and implements annual budget each fiscal year.
- Designs layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Develops long range capital plans (3-5 years).
- Provide strategic leadership with the use of new technologies.
- Ensures Engineering employees are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs. Identifies training gaps and develops training plans as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical / electrical preferred.
- Possesses 5-7 years of experience in Industrial Automation. Must be strong in electrical (SME), PLCs, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Injection Molding preferably in the Packaging Industry.
- Leadership experience in manufacturing operations, engineering and/or process improvement roles including managing teams of people and strong team building skills.
- Previous experience working in a Lean environment preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration kills.
- Organization skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees and schedules simultaneously.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: SAP knowledge preferred.
