Role Summary
Staff Launch Manager is a cross functional role that ties together product development and operations organizations to bring new vehicles to life. In this role, you will partner with the design engineering, supply chain, operations, production control, and manufacturing engineering team to first build prototype vehicles, and then continue through start of production for the product ensuring that all Operations functions are ready to deliver high quality vehicles to our customers.
Responsibilities
Participate in and lead various cross-functional Program, Engineering and Manufacturing Readiness forums. Provide clear updates on status and recovery plans for Manufacturing, production, and Engineering development as necessary at both working and executive level.
Plan, organize, and orchestrate all pre-launch build activities. Facilitate ramp management with operations teams, identify all needed activities with Manufacturing engineering, enterprise systems, product engineering and operations; and coordinate the execution and risk mitigation of those activities.
Lead the operations readiness workstream, ensuring we meet target objectives and escalate/develop recovery plans as needed. Interact, integrate, and drive results across cross-functional teams in software, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, production, production control, sales, service, etc.
Must be able to perform an in-dept technical analysis on complex issues and suggest creative solutions.
Understand the technical and Engineering aspects of decisions being made and are able to clearly articulate these to stakeholders.
Author project status, summary, and issue resolution tracking reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in engineering: Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar field
6+ years experience in production or engineering environment, with experience launching products from prototype into series production.
Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first principles
Production Operations Knowledge - Has a firm understanding of how complex production lines operate including production control, material handling, supply chain, quality, and production team.
Understanding of how the manufacturing validation process runs in relation to complex new products that stretch across various engineering teams and manufacturing centers/factories (methodology, validation plans, associated KPIs).
Ability to collect and analyze vehicle data (experience with CAN/ethernet analysis tools such as Vector CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, PCAN-Explorer, etc.).
Experience flashing ECUs, using Vector V-Flash or proprietary tools.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and general schematics.
Familiarity with Systems Integration: ECU network architecture, EV powertrains, and supporting systems.
