Sr. Penetration Tester, Mobile (Hybrid)

At Capital One, we strive to create a world-class banking experience for our customers. The Application Security team plays a fundamental role in ensuring an end-to-end secure environment. We are seeking an Application Security engineer who is driven to protect critical internal and customer-facing web and mobile applications, as well as APIs. This skilled individual will join our existing team of passionate Application Security engineers in Capital One's next generation of Cyber Security testing.

As an Application Security team member, you will be responsible for assessing applications for vulnerabilities in mobile applications, web UIs, and APIs, which all sit upon a broad range of technologies, platforms, and applications across all business units within Capital One. This work includes the testing and retesting of vulnerabilities to confirm their remediation, as well as performing holistic risk analysis in order to maintain the security posture of the enterprise. You will have the opportunity to improve the functionality of enterprise systems via the design of highly-performant feature enhancements at scale. Besides cross-team collaboration, you will also work with external vendors to utilize automated scanning for the intake and validation of security exposures.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Ability to triage, reproduce, and recommend remediations for vulnerabilities

Passion for understanding and researching vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques

Keeping up with industry trends in security technology and threats

Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and to think outside the box - "hacker" mentality.

Providing specific risk assessment and remediation guidelines for developers and business owners

Strong technical skills and understanding of web, mobile, and other applications

Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 4 years of experience working in cybersecurity or information technology

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or equivalent
3+ years of experience conducting penetration tests, specifically in iOS and Android mobile applications
3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
3+ years experience with common security tools; nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, Burp, Zap, CAIN, Linux Kali, Frida, Objection, etc.
1+ year experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
1+ years experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle
1+ years experience coding with Java, Javascript, and/or Python
4+ years of security testing experience (red teaming, cloud security, application security, or network security)
5+ years experience with penetration testing
3+ years experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Java, JavaScript)
Advanced security certifications, like CRISC, CISSP, CCIE, CISM, CISA, CCSK, and/or OSCP

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $161,900 - $184,800 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Technical

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
