Job Description


Effectively perform all inspections without supervision. The ability and proficiency to identify and complete all documentation accurately is essential. This position also has responsibility to mentor the less experienced and to provide training and leadership as required.

 

Duties & Responsibilities


As directed by Supervisor or Section Leader, perform first piece (in-process) and final inspection on all component parts as received from JCI manufacturing or outside vendor sources. Required to work to a dimensional tolerance as small as .0005".
Utilize all the various hand and bench measurement tools and devices including micrometers, "O" ring, vernier calipers, thread gauges, comparator, and hardness tester.
May understand the basic programming and operation of programmable inspection instruments such as a coordinate measuring machine
Possess understanding of how to program and operate 3-axis programmable coordinate measuring machines, and interpret the hard copy printouts for reporting purposes.
Operate an optical comparator and determine light band surface specifications for reporting purposes.
Work effectively from work orders, prints, and written or verbal instructions.
Read and interpret dimensional, manufacturing engineering, and process drawings in order to certify that tolerances, surface finish, and hardness are to tolerances shown on the drawings.
Perform prescribed material conformance tests for material identification as required.
Responsible for the documentation of non-conformances and appropriate disposition.
Complete proper labor and time reports.
Instruct and assist other inspectors.
Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies. Report unsafe conditions.
Additional duties as assigned.

The Individual


Associates degree or equivalent work experience required.
Minimum 4 years of previous inspection related experience or subordinate work experience
Must have advance understanding of computer operation, trigonometry, and SPC methodology.
Requires ability to understand and solve technical problems
Experience with advance inspection equipment required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Productions
