The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. The Product Support and Logistics Division has an immediate opening for a Packaging Engineer in Morton, IL. In this role, you will support wood packaging execution focused on safety, process control, and cost improvements with internal and external process partners. Primary focus on providing training, executing wood audit process, reviewing designs, and maintaining specification on Approved Supplier Designs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

+ Provide project management and accountability for wood packaging compliance program

+ Maintain auditing processes for wood packaging to be executed by a global team

+ Create and execute a wood packaging facility scorecard for all Cat Parts IPC/CPs to be communicated to Cat Part’s stakeholders

+ Communicate with facilities on packaging issues related to wood packaging

+ Ownership of the wood packaging manual for Service Parts

+ Develop and document blocking specifications for wood packaging

+ Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current wood packaging

+ Reviewing existing solutions for optimization opportunities and drive cost saving activities

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree, awarded on or beforeAug 2023 technical major preferred

+ Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 (no rounding) at current institution

+ Must be willing to travel and relocate domestically

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

+ Strong interpersonal communication skills

+ Ability to develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems

+ Knowledge of material handling

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Basic design skills utilizing 3D modeling software

+ Additional packaging design experience in automotive or similar industry

+ Experience working as a Packaging Engineer in industrial applications and/or related supply chain, logistics or engineering experience

+ Experience in designing wood packaging or complex project management

Compensation:

Base salaries for undergraduates range from $75,900 to $113,856. The base salary for graduate and PhD level candidates ranges from $83,280 to $137,844. Actual salary will be based on degree, completed degree level and prior internship experience at Caterpillar . The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
