The Role:
We are transforming technology and creating a digital evolution that will empower Centene to better serve our members. As a Manager, Network Security Controls this role will coordinate and direct the daily activities of the team focused on several network security technologies (e.g. firewalls, WAF, DDoS, and NDR). You’ll also handle escalations from other departments while maintaining adherence to defined SLAs, while liaising with managers in IT and other functions, applying standard solutions and processes.
As a Manager, Network Security Controls this role will also direct the implementation of network security controls and best practices, and ensure IT Security audits on firewall policies and configurations are performed. This role will also execute against AOP (Annual Operating Plan) within budget and schedule.
Position Purpose:
Oversees network security engineers, as well as monitoring and confirming the performance of the network security systems. The role will ensure appropriate levels of network security controls are managed within the organization. This will involve working alongside other internal teams and external vendors, to ensure best practice and ongoing compliance. This individual will be responsible for guiding and coaching the network security team to evolve and support the network platform and infrastructure.?
Provides cybersecurity oversight for network security components such as network firewalls, SSL inspection, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), security policy management software, etc.
Oversees engineering and operational policy configuration for network security technologies like web proxies and network firewalls, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Identifies potential network security threats/anomalies and takes necessary steps to mitigate them including, but not limited to, network segmentation, access control, and intrusion prevention systems.
Collaborates with key stakeholders to advocate for network infrastructure security and present network security reports and findings.
Creates, reviews, and/or approves standard operating procedures documents related to network security and governance.
Designs and supports implementation of network security architecture, software, and controls.
Mentors and guides junior engineers in carrying out network security related tasks.
Manages the hiring and training of new and existing staff, conduct performance reviews, provide leadership, technical guidance and coaching to network security engineers.
Shares knowledge and develops staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of network security engineering, business issues and best practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
Or in lieu of education and experience, demonstrated work experience and accomplishments applicable to the level, duties and scope of this role
