Reporting to the Hospital's CMO for quality and effectiveness of care, the Chief Executive Officer of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (the Hospital), as well as to the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Chair of Anesthesia for education and faculty affairs. The Department Chair, Pediatric Anesthesia has overall responsibility for the missions of clinical care, education, research, and the advocacy for the Department of Pediatric Anesthesia (the Department).

Job Description
K.S.A.'s:
Licensed physician (MD or DO) in the State of Illinois with board certification in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
A professional profile as a leader in anesthesia and academic medicine.
Substantial record of medical management experience, ideally in a complex, high performing academic medical center with a focus on exceptional patient care.
Experience working in partnership with multiple constituents throughout an organization. This includes achieving consensus through presentations, thought leadership, partnership, and relationship building throughout the organization.
Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, systems and objectives. Knowledge of fiscal management and human resource management techniques.
Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead in a changing environment.
Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements; able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of managers, regulators, payers, contractors, vendors, customers, etc.

Job Duties:
Plan, organize and direct all activities of the Department with support of the clinical, training, research and advocacy missions of the Medical Center.
Work in collaboration and positively across all clinical disciplines and sites to achieve organizational goals and objectives including with other Executive leaders.
Recruit, develop and retain clinical and research faculty, trainees and students.
Collaborate on strategic direction for operations and services for the Department including the perioperative and procedural areas, inpatient units, and ambulatory setting.
Partner with key leaders and stakeholders to optimize performance of Perioperative/Surgical operations, and ensure state-of-the-art technology and equipment is properly maintained.
Support the expansion and growth of surgical and procedural services in support of the Medical Center outreach strategies and by establish effective relationships with regional adult and pediatric health care institutions as fostered by partnership opportunities.
Foster and grow a research program within the Department that supports the focused research initiatives of the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute and of NUFSM. Collaborate with investigators across the Department and within the Medical Center to support this research.
Oversee the educational program of the Department including the support for the NUFSM/McGaw students and trainees and outside programs. Ensure that compliance of all regulatory requirements of programs is achieved.
Maintain a quality and safety program within the department that improves safety and key metrics performance.
Define clinical privileges for members of the Department and ensure that each member is competent to perform their approved clinical privileges.
Provide continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care, treatment, and services provided, and the maintenance of quality control programs, as appropriate, including Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
Ensure that all faculty members undergo proper Department and Hospital orientation and participate in continuous education as required by the Hospital, Medical Dental staff, McGaw and Northwestern Medicine.
Encourage and facilitate faculty academic promotions within the Department of Anesthesia at NUFSM.
Develop and coordinate short-and long-range goals for the Department, Divisions, and faculty, ensuring that Department activities enhance the objectives of the Medical Center.
Exhibit fiscal responsibility by collaborating with all billing, coding and collections for the professional group, LCPAA.
Represent the Department as a President of the LCPAA Board of Directors and its committees and serve as an Executive Committee member of the Board for Faculty Practice Plan (FPP).... For full info follow application link.
