Lead Environmental Engineer

Hybrid remote, preferably within a commutable distance to our Chicago/Lisle, IL office.

Does leading and growing a small Environmental Engineering practice for a large growing engineering firm interest you? Patrick Engineering, A RINA company, is seeking a Lead Environment Engineer to serve in a key leadership role in the assessment, analysis and remediation of groundwater and soil for our growing environmental and geosciences practice.

Job Summary

Lead and manage the technical work of an environmental team responsible for environmental site assessments, groundwater studies and site remediations. The Lead works with other engineers, geologists, and technical staff on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities
Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for proposals (projects include Phase I/II environmental site assessment(s), remedial investigation/feasibility studies, leaking underground storage tank investigations and remediation, groundwater studies, and brownfield remediation)
Direct and manage work on multiple projects to meet deliverable requirements (this may include managing projects and/or the technical aspects of projects)
Direct and occasionally perform environmental and geotechnical sample collection of soil, water, and air to characterize geo-environmental conditions.
Perform computer modeling of groundwater flow for dams, levees, mines, and remediation sites.
Perform engineering analysis and develop environmental reports in accordance with standards and specifications; compile and review data and provide evaluation and interpretation.
Comply with safety and security procedures and ensure proper use of equipment and materials.
Interact with clients on project status and outcome.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering or geology.
6+ years of relevant work experience on active project sites overseeing work through project completion.
Demonstrated experience with site remediation and closure.
Knowledge of state specific soil and groundwater standards.
Safety focused and detail orientated when conducting field work and evaluating data.
Competent technical report writing skills.
Ability to oversee and seal documents (as appropriate).
Strong prioritization, coordination, and matrix management skills; self-directed and self-motivated
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Tiered Approach to Cleanup Objectives and analyses required to complete risk-based analyses.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred.

Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license
15% travel (i.e., job sites)
