Position Summary
Primary responsibility is to assist and counsel new and continuing students on financial aid eligibility. This position is also responsible for the review of files for completion of federal and state verification requirements and packaging of financial assistance according to USF policies and guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Director in the administration of assigned federal aid program requirements. Specific duties include:Inform the Director of Financial Aid Services of all matters related to the processing of aid program requirements assigned.
Responsible for oversight of aid program(s) assigned and reconciliation of data in Banner system with federal and state agencies.
Monitors processing changes, awarding and procedures for federal aid program(s) assigned.
Directly responsible for the management and processing of a designated caseload of financial aid applicants with the primary goal of application completion and enrollment.
Assist in recruitment and admission for all programs at USF by participating in visit days, registration weekends, and student orientations as assigned by the Director.
Represent USF as required to aid program assignments, training, or participation in state association. This may require visits to local schools, community programs, and/or colleges and universities.
Assist secretary with incoming student traffic and telephone intake.
Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement
Other duties as assigned by the Director or Associate Director of Financial Aid Services
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field
Excellent counseling, writing, communication, and organizational skills are essential
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and organize required duties of the position
Ability to interact and work successfully with other university personnel, parents, students, high school contacts, alumni, contacts from other colleges or universities, and other affiliates
Working knowledge of personal computer applications
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university
Preferred Requirements
Prefer previous experience in a Financial Aid environment or in a higher education setting.
Master Degree in a related field
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: Standard office hours Monday - Friday with some evening and weekend work required, especially during registration periods.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer and using a telephone. Some travel is required and may include use of the employee's own vehicle. This is sedentary work, which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
