Position Overview

As Associate, Origination you will be responsible for originating new business across Invenergy's current and growing portfolio with Commercial and Industrial customers. Responsibilities include developing new and existing customer relationships, overseeing correspondence with major C&I brokers and advisors, communicating Invenergy's story and key attributes of potential product offerings, and proposing clean energy power transactions for the company's wind, solar, and energy storage resource portfolio. This role will also have responsibility for leading and reviewing RFP responses by coordinating with internal Invenergy teams to pull together pricing models, relevant project information and to communicate key Invenergy differentiators. The role would be an ideal growth opportunity for an ambitious self-starter looking to build on existing experience in the energy industry to help fuel the growth of one of the most dynamic and entrepreneurial companies in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and identify origination prospects and implement an outreach strategy for new C&I customers with renewable goals
  • Originate and assist with structuring and closing large wholesale power transactions in coordination with Commercial Transactions team
  • Develop and maintain strong customer and business relationships
  • Maintain CRM software with latest status on outreach efforts
  • Prepare, review and ensure timely delivery of high quality proposals in response to requests for proposals ("RFPs")
  • Prepare RFP summaries for distribution to management.
  • Coordinate with Development, Finance, Engineering and other departments in order to develop solutions for customers, prepare proposals, and slide decks for meetings with customers.
  • Support efforts on pricing model reviews. Prepare and distribute pricing history summaries before pricing meetings.
  • Ensure RFP summaries, outreach efforts, proposal and pricing information are entered into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of submitted proposals and pricing models.
  • Perform energy market research and analysis with a focus on corporate procurement commitments, C&I sustainability programs, GHG protocols, etc.

Required Skills

  • Applicants should possess at least 3 to 5 years of experience in the power sector. A degree in business, environmental science, sustainability, economics, engineering, finance or a similar field is preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of electric utility industry, market operations and structures as well as electric transmission and renewable generation
  • A solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity in the clean energy sector with a commercial focus
  • Strong sales, networking, leadership, negotiation and time management skills
  • Outstanding problem solving, strategic thinking, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information and in light of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under significant time and pressure conditions
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time
