Job Description

As a Quality Assurance Engineer/Lab Technician at Brass Foundry, you will play a vital role in ensuring the production of high-quality aluminum castings. You will be responsible for conducting quality control tests, inspections, and implementing quality assurance processes to meet customer requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, metallurgy, and lab testing in a manufacturing or foundry environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control Testing: Perform various quality control tests, inspections, and measurements on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using specialized equipment and techniques. This includes dimensional inspections, visual inspections, hardness testing, spectrographic analysis, and other relevant tests.

2. Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with established quality standards and identify opportunities for process improvement. Work closely with production personnel to address any quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.

3. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality control tests, inspection results, and other quality-related data. Prepare reports summarizing findings and communicate any deviations or non-conformities to the appropriate stakeholders.

4. Quality Assurance Processes: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure consistent product quality. Participate in the development and improvement of quality control systems, including the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the establishment of quality metrics.

5. Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and analyze the root causes of quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address identified issues.

6. Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and applicable regulations. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging quality control technologies.

7. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and implement relevant quality enhancement projects.

Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications or equivalent experience will also be considered.

+ Previous experience working in a quality assurance role in a manufacturing or foundry environment is strongly preferred.

+ Strong knowledge of quality control methods, lab testing techniques, and statistical process control (SPC) principles.

+ Proficiency in using lab equipment and tools for quality control testing, such as calipers, micrometers, spectrometers, hardness testers, and other relevant instruments.

+ Familiarity with metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material specifications for aluminum castings.

+ Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality assurance practices.

+ Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

+ Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to cross-functional teams.

+ Proficiency in using computer software and tools, including Microsoft Office and data analysis software.

+ Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload effectively.
