Robert Half is partnering with a growing company to find a Database Administrator who is familiar with complex problem solving. This may be the position for you if you are a skilled problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making abilities.
What you get to do every day
- Figure out the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms
- Confirm that database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet SLA goals when designed and executed
- Make suggestions regarding database design, tuning options, and other potential issues
- Restore service to databases as outages happen, including after hours and on weekends
- Maintain all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installations and configurations as needed
- Baseline system performance, monitor for deviation, and recommend and implement improvements to slow running queries
Requirements – Practical knowledge of storage and server hardware desired- Comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server
- Skilled at making improvements to query performance
- Prior experience building and maintaining documentation
- Solid grasp of relational database management systems
- Previous experience in production environments and being on-call
