Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks):
 
 
 Job Summary: 
 Coordinate and assess employer relations, internship, and employment programming. Increase awareness of Career Services and create mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses throughout the district. Work with students and community members to promote career development and job readiness skills.
Create, implement, coordinate and assess employer relations programming
Coordinate activities and assessment of programming related to student internships and employment, such as Cooperative Work Study Program (CWSP), externships/job shadow programs, etc.
Take part in program advisory boards and use information and connections to improve and/or develop student programming
Organize, implement, facilitate, and assess job fairs and other student employment activities such as employer panels, presentations, and meetings
Develop and implement new projects and special initiatives related to student employment
Collaborate with other departments to effectively market the department and college to district employers through the use of print, social media, and emerging technologies
Develop and implement comprehensive internship resources and training materials for employers and students
Communicate and train students, employers and visitors on Career Services and related programming
Create and maintain databases of potential employers, presenters, and participants
Partner in the development of departmental resources related to Guided Pathways
Explain and train students and community members on the use of career development systems, such as Career Cruising
Proofread and correct resumes and other job search materials
Present job readiness curriculum to community members and students in collaboration with faculty, club advisors and/or coaches
Build and strengthen connections with alumni in support of student employment initiatives
Other related duties as assigned.
Specific Functional Job Requirements

 
 Education: 
 Bachelor's degree in related field.
Experience: 
 Prefer related community college, business and/or human resource experience.
Knowledge: 
 Local labor market information, employment trends, career development, job-search readiness skills, business etiquette, student development, general office procedures, grant compliance, social media.
Skills 
 Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, teaching, presentation and organizational skills; Microsoft Office; multi-user calendar system.
Personal: 
 Detail-oriented, self-starter who enjoys relating to a diverse population of students, staff and public in a fast-paced work environment with multiple interruptions. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to engage and effectively collaborate with local business and industry. Enthusiastic and committed to students, with strong orientation toward customer service and community college philosophy. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Interest in working with students, staff and business and industry. Commitment to student success
Physical:  
 Ability to access computer screens and electronic student records in software packages currently used by the college; ability to input data; ability to lift and transport 20 pounds; ability to verbally present information in a workshop or seminar setting; ability to visually critique materials for layout and content; ability to travel to businesses to meet with employers and/or student interns.
Machines and equipment used:  
 College mainframe software, PC Client Server environment, Windows 10 platform, Microsoft Office 2013, Outlook, Internet Explorer, presentation equipment/software, facsimile machine, multi-line digital phone system, flatbed scanner and copy machine.
