This temporary position is in support of a grant award involving a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) between T-REX and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This short-term award to GeoMARC (through T-REX) is for the development of a K-5 geospatial after-school program with Unleashing Potential in St. Louis. This program is specifically aimed at providing underserved communities with structured program modules related to K-5 geospatial education in support of NGA’s continued efforts to develop a diverse geospatial workforce.

Job responsibilities will include:

1) Designing an instructional curriculum using maps, games, geospatial software, and physical activities to facilitate learning and familiarity with global, regional, and local geographic features (both physical and cultural),

2) Educating summer camp staff and after-school program staff on geospatial curriculum concepts and program delivery,

3) Performing site visits (summer and fall) to assess student learning
and support program delivery, 4) Develop online educational resources to support geospatial program modules.

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Geography;
  2. Working knowledge of cartographic principles and how they apply to maps at various map scales;
  3. Advanced knowledge of physical and cultural features at the global, continental, US regional, and St. Louis metropolitan level;
  4. Ability to scale educational delivery to various audience ages and grades (adult to kindergarten);
  5. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours during summer camps and after-school/evening programs;
  6. Working experience with ESRI software and Google Earth;
  7. Strong communication and organizational skills.
